Dollar Tree Haul

I've been watching Dollar Tree Hauls for months and been tempted to go to one. I mean everything for a "DOLLAR". Doesn't that just ring a bell in your head to go. It sure does to me. I'm always on a look for great deals and finding inexpensive makeup. From what I know Dollar Tree is basically a store that carries a bunch of "overstock" items from other stores (e.g. Walmart, Rite Aid, CVS). They can't sell them anymore because it's overstock or discontinued (think of it as a CCO). Every time I watch Dollar Tree hauls, after I watch a couple I wanna drive to the Dollar Tree store and see what they have. I mean people have found some really great brand makeup for only $1. I was seriously blown away. So I googled to find one in my area, I found out there was at least 6 in my area.

I went to two different Dollar Tree's that were just 10-15 minutes away from where I live. The first one I went to didn't have much stuff but I did find a few makeup. The second one I went to looked like they just got in a new shipment. They were stocked up. It was like a little kid in a candy store, I was excited maybe a bit overwhelmed of all the makeup they had.

It's now my favorite place to shop, not just for makeup but for other random things (birthday cards, candles, birthday gifts, etc). I definitely recommend anyone who is on budget check out your Dollar Tree, you'll be amazed at what you may find. And go atleast 3 times a week cause they get new shipment almost daily. With that being said here is what I picked up (keep in mind everything was $1).

My Top 10 Favorite Blushes

Lately I've been obsessed with blushes. Sometimes the only makeup I would wear is blush, mascara and lip balm. But in the past year I've been on a blush kick and have been buying a lot of blushes more than usual.

One of my favorite brands of blushes are La Femme blushes. Which can be purchased at makeupmania.com. An amazing website that carries a bunch of professional/stage/theatrical products from different brands. From makeup to hair products to skin care products, just a bunch of good quality stuff. Great quality products for incredible low prices. I know in my video review I mention that the La Femme blushes cost $1.50 a pan. Well they did, but just recently they up'd the price to $2.50 which I still think is still pretty good since the pigmentation and wear on these blushes are amazing. They carry over 40+ shades. So there's a wide range of colors and finishes. If your a freelance makeup artist or want to build up your blush collection or looking for good quality blushes at a affordable price, definitely check out La Femme blushes. I absolutely love them.

I love MAC blushes but if I wanna build up my blush collection paying $18.50 or $15.50 for a blush that would be crazy. I could get 7 La Femme blushes for the price of one MAC blush. I love them but can't afford them sometimes. When there's a collection with special packaging is probably the only time I'd purchase a MAC blush. I hardly ever buy something that's permanent.

La Femme Cosmetics- Peach [This is a coral peach shade. Satin finish with a slight sheen. Absolutely love this blush. Perfect summer blush for all skin tones.]

La Femme- Cinnabar [Bronzey reddish coral with peach undertone. A frost finish with slight coppery sheen. Gives a beautiful sun-kissed glow to the face.]

La Femme- Misty Plum [Mauvey Pink with Lilac undertones. Satin finish with a slight sheen. Love wearing this in the spring and fall.]

Jordana Cosmetics- Sienna [Caramel brown. Satin finish. Great bronzer and contour shade.]

e.l.f.- Peachy Keen [A very light muted peach with gold shimmer (subtle shimmer). For light to medium skin tones a great subtle blush. For tanned to dark skin tones a great highlighter. I also love using this blush on top of other (matte/satin) blushes, just to add a little something to the cheek.]

MAC- Ablaze [Plumy brown. A frost finish. Quite pigmented, can give that bruised look. So I recommend applying with a light hand and build the color slowly when using it as a blush. For tanned to dark skin tones it adds definition to the face when applied into hollows of cheeks. I like mixing this with my contour for more dramatic looks, were the main focus is on the face rather than the eyes.]

MAC- Eversun [Bronzey peach with slight sheen. Very versatile blush. Depending on your skin tone and how you apply it, it can be used as a blush, bronzer or highlighter. A lovely summer blush. ]

MAC- Sunbasque [Warm bronzey peach with shimmer. Beautiful summer blush. Gives off a sun-kissed/glowly look to the face.]

MAC- Margin [Bronzey coral peach with shimmer. Very subtle blush. Absolutely my all time favorite blush. Gives such a wonderful glow to my cheeks. LOVES!!]

MAC- Enough Said [A light peachy beige with golden shimmer. The shimmer may look OVERLY shimmery in the pan but when I apply this as a highlight it's actually quite subtle and very pretty. Lovely highlighther for warmed to dark skin tones.]

Review: e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color Quad

Finally getting the chance to do a review on these little darlings, the e.l.f. brightening eye color quads. These quads can be purchased on the e.l.f. website or you can find them at K-Mart and Target. With each quad being only $1 I can see why people may be skeptical. I've read and watched quite a few reviews on these quads, some hate them some love them. Mixed reviews. But the only way to tell if its a hit or a miss is to try it out for your self. And that is exactly what I did.

I was very lucky to get a bunch during a BIG SALE. ELF always has a sale/coupon code going on every single day. But a couple months ago they celebrated there 6th Birthday/Anniversary, so they had a 60%off on the entire site. And me I'm always on a look for bargains. I picked out 11 quads out of 18 that they offer for only 40cents each (usually they are $1 each). Score!!
If you want to try out new products, build up your makeup collection or your new to makeup that you try out these quads/ELF products. It doesn't hurt to at least try two or three. I mean it's only $1, but you can get lucky and get them cheaper when you use a coupon code (coupon codes can be found at retailmenot.com).

ELF says: Luxuriously smooth, corn silk formula provides eyes with a neutral base and an awakened brightness. The formula blends into skin for a long lasting, beautiful effect. The 4 color quad allows for both natural and dramatic looks.

My opinion: Majority of the shadows are creamy, silky and highly pigmented. They do remind me a lot like the MAC veluxe pearl finishes in the sense that they are silky, velvety and almost buttery feeling. There easy to apply and really don't take that much application/effort. They blend like a dream. On the other hand there are a couple for example the matte shadows, I find them to be bit chalky or washed out. I don't recommend using the mattes wet, it just makes them look more chalky. I tend to just use them as base colors and apply a different shadow or looses shadow on top.
I do recommend using some kind of primer or base before applying these shadows just so that they stay on longer and don't crease throughout the day.

As for packaging, it's made out of plastic which I've found it to be quite durable after having dropped the quads many times and surprisingly having none of the eye shadows break. It may look cheap, but its just simple. Nothing fancy or complicating. And because the quad is small and light weight that you can throw a couple inside your makeup bag and it doesn't take much space when you travel.

PROS:

I really like that each eye shadows in the quad go so well together, making it easy to do a look.
Small and light weight compact, quite durable.
Darker shades have great pigmentation.
Great selection of colors.
Inexpensive.

CONS:

Matte shades are a bit chalky.

Overall rating: 4/5
Hit or Miss?: Hit! I do recommend these lovely quads. Affordable and great quality.

Update.... Went to the hospital

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe summer. I'm definitely having a great summer. Some days boring, some I've had tons of fun. June has been quite busy for me. The cousins and myself booked a room at the Westin Villas for two nights and three days. Tons of fun!! Spent about 7 hours in the pool and it's not often where all of the cousins get to hang. We also walked around Front Street and spent most of the time looking for Lush, which we did find and I honestly was disappointed. They didn't have the ones that I wanted. But anyways that was a fun mini vacay.
I also just recently got my wisdom tooth's taken out and boy, do I have a story to tell you all.
So the actual extraction went well. I went for just the numbing and laughing gas. The laughing gas felt quite nice, very relaxing and it just numbed my whole body. It feels like your floating on a cloud. The only thing that spooked and got my heart rate racing was when the doctor was injecting my gums to numb it. I seriously knocked out a couple times and then woke up again, still seeing him inject more. It really made me jittery and it just plan out felt weird. But after a couple minutes I couldn't feel a thing. No pain, just felt a lot of pressure during the extraction. Overall it went pretty well. Glad it is just a one time kind of athing.
Okay, so if you follow me on Twitter, you probably know what happened.
I got an allergic reaction to the medicine Amoxicillin, which I was prescribed by the doctor to help heal after the extraction of my wisdom tooth's. I started feeling really weird a couple hours taking the medicine. I was having a hard time breathing, felt pressure on my chest, itching, eyes felt heavy, the left side of my body was tingly, nauseous and light headed/dizzy. Pretty much all the symptoms. I woke my parents up and got a hold of my doctor and he then told to go to the emergency. So my mom took me to the hospital. So glad it only took 2 minutes to get there. Went to the ER room were I waited for 2 hours for a doctor to check me out. He said it wasn't to severe, which I'm glad. He just said I had a allergic reaction to it and then gave me Benadryl to stop the itching. So now I know I'm allergic to Amoxicillin/Ampicillin. This experience definitely spooked me. I've never had an allergic reaction and been in the ER as a patient. I'm just so glad and thankful that it wasn't severe.
Also watched Grown Ups with the cousins. It was so nice to have all the cousins together. A really great family movie. Its about time they make a movie with all those funny actors.I definitely recommend watching that movie. Hilarious!!
But pretty much this summer I've been going to graduation parties, chilling at home, and after I got my wisdom tooth's taken out a lot of sleeping because the medicine made me drowsy so I got a lot of sleep this summer.
I have a lot more stuff to do this month. Just had my cousins graduation party last night which was tons of fun. My sisters and I had to dance hula and Tahitian. And my sister will be competing at the Keiki Hula Competition in Oahu. Also I'm moving back to Washington.
Anyways thought I'd update for the sake of updating and so you all know what has been happening.

After seeing this collection in person I wasn't expecting to get so little from this collection (I usually go all out on LE special packaging). But I only got a few things. A lot were either already permanent or I already have it in my collection.

Marine Life High Light Powder $26
The most over hyped product. Sold out QUICK!! As you probably all know the gold over spray disappears after two uses. One part of the shade is a orangey-coral and the other a light baby pink. Perfect for the summer. Gives a nice fresh healthy glow to the skin.

Get Away Bronze Powder Blush $18.50
It's a lightened, metallic bronze with a frost sheen. Beautiful blush that gives a nice tanned glow.

Weekend Creme Bronzer $25
It's a orange-tinged suntan brown with subtle copper shimmer. Love this product. Goes from a cream to powder finish.

Sun Rush Lustre Drop $18.50
It's a golden peach liquid highlighter. So lovely on the skin, seriously this stuff is amazing. Brings out such a nice goddess/glow to the face.

This is what I was looking forward to this pass couple of months...
The MAC Liberty of London Collection. So my mac counter was suppose to get the collection on March 11 but the shipment got delayed I had to wait another week and a half. But anyways finally got a call from one of the MAs because I was on the waiting list to be informed when they have the collection. So once I got the call I rushed on over to my mac counter. When I got there they just literally opened up the boxes and started to display the collection on a tray and I was the first to view and do swatches. I went through the stuff pretty fast because I already had in mind of the things I wanted to get.

I was really hoping that I would have time to do more videos during my break but that never happened. Got stuck in my room reading, studying and working on my marketing plan paper. Stopped by Ross with my sister didn't find much but found a dress in the clearance section. Its by Rhapsody Clothing Original price: $28 Ross price: $12.99 Reduced to: $6.49

Then I found this sleepwear dress by Sanrio Original price: it think it was $30 Ross price: $11.99. Love the material very soft reminds me of a robe material.

Then we stopped by at Kmart and we didn't plan on going. But after gym we just decided to stop by and check it out. Glad we did. Scored on these gladiator sandals by Route 66 Retailed for: $14.99 Clearance: $9.99. Super cute, comfortable, trendy, plus perfect for the spring and summer.

I know I haven't made a video in forever. I really have no excuse (just been really lazy). Hopefully during Spring Break I'll try to do 4 videos, since my Spring Break is a week long.

This whole week has been nothing but weird weather. Its been raining hella hard in the morning, sunny in the afternoon then more rain at night. Feels like I'm back in Washington. This kinda weather I just wanna lay in bed all day, so depressing (maybe that's why I've been lazy).

Hey Fashionista's

If you follow me on Twitter you may have already heard me rave about the fashion show in which I co-planned along with my fellow fashion club members. This event was the start of many more events to come from our fashion club.

We actually started planning this event last year and took about 4 months to prepare. We decided to do the fashion show at our mall so that the whole community/ the public could see the show. We wanted to show our community what the Fashion Technology Program is all about and what we can do. It was very exciting for me, I've never done anything this BIG. As for myself I was one of the designers and part of the hair and makeup committee and as well as backstage. A lot of people were involved, helping out making sure the event went smoothly. I mean it was legit not like other fashion shows we've done. Our set/stage was an actual runway, we even hired a photographer and we also had a red carpet so that the models can pose to be photographed.

Our theme was "The Faces of International Inspiration". The show was broken down into three segments/countries: Europe, North America and Asia. My designs were inspired my Japanese Street Fashion (Gyaru and Harajuku). Here are some photos of my designs. Actual photos from the fashion show will be up soon. FOTD: MAC Spring Colour 4 Forecast Amber Look

Didn't purchase anything from the Spring Colour 4 Forecast Collection because I find that the colors are dupable. Just saved myself $36. I mean don't get me wrong the colors in that quad are gorgeous but I don't need a ton of amber/gold/bronze eye shadows. So I created this look with colors that I found similar with products I already own. Tutorial on this look click here.
On a side note I did purchase something from the Spring Colour 3 Forecast Collection, just the Colour 3 Quad which I'm loving. Tutorial on the Colour 3 quad click here. And that's the only thing I purchased from the Spring Colour Forecast Collection, I wanted to and still want that Ripe Peach Blush Ombre but its SOLD OUT at my MAC counter and online =(
